4 Better-for-You Beauty RecipesWith natural and organic ingredients like pure essential oils, hydrating nut and seed oils, plant extracts, and more, our toxin-free clean beauty products help to create non-toxic bath and body essentials. All you need are a few additional ingredients.

We jotted down some of our favorite do-it-yourself recipes so you can make your own scrubs, hair pomades, and more. Take a look!

Invigorating Citrus Sugar Scrub

Pair up our Citrus Body Wash or  Verbena Body Wash—formulated with all-natural and organic plant-based ingredients like aloe vera, coconut oil, chamomile, and green tea extract—with this gentle scrub for a morning routine that will wake you up and lift your spirits too.

You’ll need a mason or small glass jar with a lid to store.

Better-for-You Ingredients

1 cup organic granulated sugar

1 whole organic lemon (for juice and zest)

¼ cup organic, extra virgin, cold-pressed coconut oil

4–5 pumps Pharmacopia Body Wash

Spotlight on coconut oil: You’ll find coconut oil in so many Pharmacopia natural bodycare products like our natural Shampoos and rejuvenating Body Washes. That’s because it helps hydrate skin and is a natural anti-inflammatory, which is why it’s been credited with helping to heal wounds. It also has natural anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.

Do-It-Yourself Directions

Add the sugar to a medium-size bowl. Zest the lemon; set aside. Juice lemon, remove seeds, and add to the sugar. Add coconut oil to the bowl, and stir well. Stir in Body Wash until well mixed. Add half lemon zest to the bowl, folding in. Pour scrub into the jar, adding remaining lemon zest to the top.

Usage tip: Gently massage scrub onto feet, or use as an all-over body scrub. It may be too rough to use on facial skin or on very sensitive skin. Store in a cool, dry place.

Always follow up any scrub with a hydrating lotion like Pharmacopia Citrus Body Lotion with natural and organic ingredients.

DETOX GINGER VERBENA BATH

Looking to take your bath up a notch when you need a boost? This natural detox bath may be just what you need. It may help ease aches and pains, too, and may cause you to sweat.*

This bath is formulated with Epsom salts, ginger, and our Pharmacopia Verbena Body Wash with aloe, coconut, chamomile, and green tea extracts plus invigorating essences of citrus, mint, basil, cedarwood, and lemongrass.

Be sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated while you’re soaking.

Better-for-You Ingredients

1/3 cup Epsom salts

1/3 cup baking soda

1/3 cup Himalayan sea salt

6–8 pumps of Pharmacopia Verbena Body Wash

1-3 rounded teaspoons freshly grated organic ginger or organic ground ginger

Do-It-Yourself Directions

Start warm bath water running (as warm as you can tolerate). In a medium-size bowl, mix Epsom salts, baking soda, and sea salt together. Mix in ginger. Pour the mixture under the running bath water. Pump Pharmacopia Body Wash directly under the water stream.

Get in the tub, and soak for 20 to 30 minutes or as long as you can tolerate. Dab off with a towel, drink more water, and relax. If you want, you can rinse off with a cool shower after 30 minutes.

Amp up the benefits: Wash and rinse hair with Verbena Shampoo prior to bathing. Apply Verbena Conditioner as leave-in conditioner and wrap a small towel around your head, turban style. After you get out of the detox bath, dry off and let the conditioner soak in for up to 30 minutes before rinsing off in a cool shower.

* Because this is a detox bath and may make you sweat, it is not recommended for anyone who’s pregnant or who has heart or liver issues.

ARGAN OIL WHIPPED BODY BUTTER

This do-it-yourself beauty recipe takes a little more prep time on the stove, but it’s worth it if you’re in need of extra hydration.

This homemade body butter contains shea butter, coconut oil, and sweet almond oil, plus our own Pharmacopia Argan Oil Body Lotion with uplifting essences of green tea and melon.

You’ll need a small glass jar with a lid to store body butter.

Better-for-You Ingredients

½ cup organic, raw shea butter

¼ cup organic, extra virgin coconut oil

¼ cup organic sweet almond oil

2-3 drops of favorite essential oil

10 pumps Pharmacopia Argan Oil Body Lotion

Spotlight on argan oil: Argan oil is the featured ingredient in our Argan Oil Collection—for good reason. It’s chock-full of vitamins A, C, and E. It’s also rich in hydrating and anti-inflammatory fatty acids.

Do-It-Yourself Directions

In a small saucepan over medium heat, mix shea butter, coconut oil, and sweet almond oil. Stir well until melted. Remove from heat, and transfer to a mixing bowl. Chill in the fridge overnight. Or for a faster finish, freeze for an hour or two (no more).

Remove from the fridge or freezer, and use a hand beater to mix well together until the consistency of frosting. Add drops of essential oil and Pharmacopia Argan Oil Body Lotion, and mix well. (The more lotion you add, the more balm-like this body butter will be.) Transfer to a jar and store in the fridge. Massage into skin after a shower, bath, or on feet when in need of a little extra TLC.
